Daughters of St. Therese

​Purpose: A liturgical minister who primarily serves before and after the Sacred Liturgy

Qualifications: Girls who wish to be Daughters of St. Therese must meet the following standards and be at least in grade 5:
  • Have received Baptism and First Communion
  • Be able to serve with reverence and dignity
  • Attend Formation and Training meetings
  • Have their parent’s permission (if under 18)


Scheduling: Daughters are scheduled according to the mass time(s) they choose, at least once a month

Duration: As long as you'd like

Training: Formation and Training meetings are offered in the summer

Sons of St. Joseph

Purpose: A liturgical minister who primarily serves during the Sacred Liturgy

Qualifications: Boys who wish to be Sons of St. Joseph must meet the following standards and be at least in grade 5:

Ministry of Altar Linens

Purpose: To launder and iron the Altar Linens used at Mass

Qualifications: Anyone who is a member of St Mary Parish.

Scheduling: You will be assigned a given month to care for the linens

Duration: You may serve as long as you'd like.

Training: Training is available anytime.

Ministry of Environment

Purpose: To enhance the experience of liturgy using displays, artwork, banners, flowers, etc.

Qualifications: 
  • Member of St Mary Parish
  • Enjoy arts, crafts, flower arrangement, etc.
  • OR is willing to help move things, use ladders, etc.

Scheduling: Decorating the church happens whenever the environment needs to be changed for Feast days, parish events, or the start of a new liturgical season (Lent, Ordinary Time, Easter). Scheduling is flexible and based on events.

Duration: You may serve as long as you'd like.

Training: No training needed!

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Purpose: To serve the Eucharist at liturgical celebrations including Saturday and Sunday Mass, weekday liturgies, Holy Days, etc.

Qualifications: 
  • Fully-initiated Catholic (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation)
  • A catholic in good standing, as assessed by the Pastor of the parish in which they will serve - someone who tries to live the Gospel and would not cause scandal
  • at least 16 years of age
  • has received formation and training at the parish or dealer level in: the theology of the Eucharist and the Mass, the spirituality of ministry, and the guidelines and procedures for their ministry.

Scheduling: You are scheduled according to the mass time you choose, at least once a month.

Duration: You are commissioned for 3 years in the Diocese of Pueblo

Training: Practical Training is held twice a year, usually Fall and Spring.

Ministry of Hospitality

Purpose: To be a welcoming face for people as they enter the church for liturgies and to assist with collections and seating the assembly.

Qualifications: 
  • Member of St Mary Parish.
  • Families with children are welcome to all become Hospitality Ministers!

Scheduling: You may choose one or more open slots on the annual schedule.

Duration: As long as you'd like 

Training: Practical Training as needed

Ministry of Lector

Purpose: To proclaim the Word of God at scheduled or special liturgies.

Qualifications: 
  • Validly baptized
  • Received First Communion
  • Profess the Catholic faith
  • An active member of the church
​Training beforehand is required and is comprised of these components:
  • Technical Preparation
  • Scriptural Preparation
  • Liturgical Preparation
  • Spiritual Preparation

Scheduling: Once a month or once every other month, or as needed. You may also be on a substitute list.

Duration: As long as you'd like.

Training: Training is held twice a year, usually Fall and Spring. One-on-one training is also available.

Ministry of Musician

 ​Purpose: To lead the Assembly in singing and to enhance the liturgy with music.

Requirements: You must be:
  • Skilled in singing or playing an instrument
  • Willing to attend rehearsals

Scheduling: At least once Mass per month, plus Holy Days, Weddings, Funerals, etc.

Duration: You may serve as long as you'd like.

Training: Practices are scheduled by the Music Coordinator. We have several different choirs, including a children's choir, to choose from.

​Ministry of Sacristan

Purpose: To prepare the things necessary for the celebration of the Liturgy: Books, communion vessels, bread, wine, etc., and ensure liturgical ministers are in place.

Qualifications:  
  • A fully initiated ​Catholic (received Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation)
  • A Catholic in good standing 
  • At least 16 years of age

Scheduling: At least once a month at weekend liturgies, and other various liturgies (Weddings, Funerals, Holy Days, etc.).

Duration: At least 1 year; arrive 1 hour before Mass, leave about 15 minutes after Mass.

Training: ​Training is available any time.

Ministry of Consolation

​Purpose: To work with grieving families and help them prepare the funeral and vigil liturgy for their loved one.

Qualifications: A compassionate and detail-oriented person

Scheduling: Rotating basis with other ministers

Duration: As long as you'd like

Training: One on one with another Minister of Consolation

Funeral Luncheon Ministry

Purpose: To help set up, serve, and clean up a funeral luncheon so families can gather, share memories, and feel supported during their time of loss.

Qualifications: A compassionate and detail-oriented person

Scheduling: Rotating basis with other ministers

Duration: As long as you'd like

Training: One on one with another Minister
