Ministry of Altar Linens

Purpose: To launder and iron the Altar Linens used at mass

Qualifications: Anyone who is a member of St Mary Parish.

Scheduling: You will be assigned a given month to care for the linens

Duration: You may serve as long as you'd like.

Training: Training is available anytime.

Ministry of Environment

Purpose: To enhance the experience of liturgy using displays, artwork, banners, flowers, etc.

Qualifications: 
  • Member of St Mary Parish
  • Enjoy arts, crafts, flower arrangement, etc.
  • OR is willing to help move things, use ladders, etc.

Scheduling: Meetings take place weekly during the school year, and once a month in the summer. Setup for Holy Days (Christmas, All Saints, Easter, etc.) take place in evenings and/or on the weekends.

Duration: You may serve as long as you'd like.

Training: No training needed!

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Purpose: To serve the Eucharist at liturgical celebrations including Saturday and Sunday Mass, weekday liturgies, Holy Days, etc.

Qualifications: 
  • Fully-initiated Catholic (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation)
  • A catholic in good standing, as assessed by the Pastor of the parish in which they will serve - someone who tries to live the Gospel and would not cause scandal
  • at least 18 years of age
  • nominated by the Pastor of the parish where he/she will serve
  • has received formation and training at the parish or dealer level in: the theology of the Eucharist and the Mass, the spirituality of ministry, and the guidelines and procedures for their ministry.

Scheduling: You are scheduled according to the mass time you choose, at least once a month.

Duration: You are commissioned for 3 years in the Diocese of Pueblo

Training: Practical Training is held twice a year, usually Fall and Spring.

Ministry of Hospitality

Purpose: To be a welcoming face for people as they enter the church for liturgies and to assist the assembly with seating.

Qualifications: 
  • Member of St Mary Parish.
  • Families with children are welcome to all become Hospitality Ministers!

Scheduling: You may choose one or more open slots on the annual schedule.

Duration: Hospitality Ministers are commissioned for 3 years in St. Mary Parish.

Training: Practical Training is held twice a year, Spring and Fall. One-on-one training is also available.

Ministry of Lector

Purpose: To proclaim the Word of God at scheduled or special liturgies.

Qualifications: The Diocese requires that lectors are trained prior to engaging in their ministry. Their training is comprised of these components:
  • Technical Preparation
  • Scriptural Preparation
  • Liturgical Preparation
  • Spiritual Preparation

Scheduling: Once a month or once every other month, or as needed. You may also be on a substitute list.

Duration: As long as you'd like.

Training: Training is held twice a year, usually Fall and Spring. One-on-one training is also available.

Ministry of Musician

Purpose: To lead the Assembly in singing and to enhance the liturgy with music.

Requirements: You must be
  • Skilled in singing or playing an instrument
  • Willing to attend rehearsals

Scheduling: At least once Mass per month, plus Holy Days, Weddings, Funerals, etc.

Duration: You may serve as long as you'd like.

Training: Practice individually or with a group.

​Ministry of Sacristan

Purpose: To prepare the things necessary for the celebration of the Liturgy: Books, communion vessels, bread, wine, etc., and ensure liturgical ministers are in place.

Qualifications: Any adult who is a member of St Mary Parish, preferably with experience as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.

Scheduling: At least once a month at weekend liturgies, and other various liturgies (Weddings, Funerals, Holy Days, etc.).

Duration: At least 1 year; arrive 1 hour before Mass, leave about 15 minutes after Mass.

Training: ​Training is available any time.
